Personal Information:

Ms. Zayas-Godoy's professional experience is in the private practice sector and came to Coto & Associates from one of the largest law firms in Puerto Rico where she worked in bankruptcy, health insurance, taxes, and trademarks areas. She has been involved in issuing legal opinions to clients and prospective clients, on renewal processes and declaration of continued use, declarations of first use, change of owner, change of address, and registration of trademarks applications.

 

She has also worked in the wills and trusts, family law, and labor & employment law areas. Since joining our firm, she has been honing her skills on those areas of practice and developing them in civil and complex litigation and corporate advice.

 

While in College, Ms. Zayas-Godoy studied abroad for six months in Madrid, Spain. There she met many people of diverse cultures and backgrounds. This experience has made her understand how important respecting each individuals' culture and way of thinking is in the workplace, as well as personally. She is very well equipped to assist clients, from diverse cultures, achieve their short-term or long-term goals.

 

In law school, Ms. Zayas-Godoy's extracurricular activities, included being a member of the "Organization of Women Law Students", were she partook in workshops and seminars focused on empowering women, as well as promote gender equality in the workplace. She was also a member of the National Association of Law Students ("ANED" for its Spanish acronym). In 2014, she was a volunteer in a litigation competition, held in the Bankruptcy Court of Puerto Rico, in which well-known stateside law schools participated.

 

Ms. Zayas-Godoy's diverse cultural backgrounds, leadership, and social skills make her ideal for problem solving.

 

Ms. Zayas- Godoy graduated Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, with a B.A. in Human Resources from the Faculty of Business Administration and obtained her law degree from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico Law School. She is admitted to the bar of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and is a member of the Colegio de Abogados de Puerto Rico.
